This year students will use two entrances into the venue; this should ensure a smooth and efficient entry. You will be advised later at which entry to assemble.
How will 4,000 students exit the Performance Area?
Several exits will be made available to us this year. Parents will meet their child in an allocated area. Perth Arena Security is going to assist us with this process.
At the end of the concert, can my parents collect their child from the performance floor?
No. Schools will be allocated an area where children will meet their parents.
Can Parents watch the rehearsal?
No, it will be a closed rehearsal. No members of the public will be able to view the rehearsal.
What are the toilet facilities like at Perth Arena and will there be enough for 4,000 students?
Toilets are in abundance! ☺
How can my school get to the Perth Arena venue?
Bus or Train one way only (remember the train station is only a few hundred metres from the Perth Arena) and encourage parents/relatives to purchase tickets to collect their students at the end of the concert.
Bus arrivals will be supervised by Advanced Traffic Management personnel.
MUSIC TEACHERSDo Music teachers need to attend all three workshops?
Yes. The three workshops are essential. Attendance at these workshops is vital.
Do Music teachers need to wear a lanyard as well as the choir helpers?
Yes, with so many students and adults at this event, we are extremely safety conscious.
Do I have to conduct any of the songs?
No. It is not compulsory to conduct.
Where do Music Teachers sit throughout the performance especially if they are conducting?
Music Teachers will be sitting on seats in front of their choir.
When do we learn the actions to the songs?
All choreography will be provided on the website before the first workshop.
What do Music Conductors need to wear?
All conductors need to wear all black clothing; this prevents any distraction from the students. This year we’d love it if Music Teachers could wear their One Big Voice T-shirt for the performance, although this isn’t compulsory.
STUDENTSI have some students in my choir with Special Needs and one in a wheelchair.
We ask that you notify us as soon as practical by email about any specific student needs.
Do I need to bring a First Aid Kit with me?
Yes. You must also bring any medical action plans and specific medication for individual students. The Perth Arena will have access to some first aid, but this will be limited.
Students with identified medical conditions
e.g. asthma, severe allergies, epilepsy, etc., who may require specific medical attention will be given a red rubber wristband to wear when they arrive at the Perth Arena. They will need to wear this throughout the afternoon and evening to allow for easy identification in an emergency.
What do my choir students need to wear?
It is a prestigious venue, so we know all teachers will ensure students look smart. We recommend students wear matching choir/school uniform shirts.
Where will we be able to eat our evening snack?
The rehearsal will only run for one hour this year. A small evening meal could be eaten before arriving at the venue or before entering the stadium – in the lobby.
A small snack such as a muesli bar and a water bottle can be taken into the stadium and eaten after the rehearsal.
Can the students leave the Perth Arena at any stage from the time they arrive before the end of the concert?
No. This is a duty of care issue unless it is a medical condition.
HELPERSHow many helpers do we bring?
This year the rehearsal is only for an hour so minimal helpers will be required. We suggest one helper per 25-30 children and extra helpers for children with special needs.
All helpers will receive a lanyard as shown and no unauthorised people will be able to enter the venue.
What will my helpers be expected to do?
Assist with students as required; toilets, water spills, first aid, etc.
Where will my helpers sit during the performance and how will they get access to the students?
The helpers will be seated in the first row of seats along each side of the performance area, along with music teachers.
This year, Young Talent will be by audition. All Young Talent and Soloists will be meeting with members of the One Big Voice Committee for a separate rehearsal before the concert. Further information will be available on the website.
Principals will receive one VIP ticket, but if they want to bring a partner/friend, they will need to purchase the extra ticket. We can organise for partner/ friend seats to be together if we are notified in plenty of time.
Tickets will be sold through Ticketek.
Tickets for school communities will have a pre-release period of six weeks before they go on sale to the public.
Tickets are $30.00 each. Discounts are available when purchasing in groups.
Can my parents buy tickets on the night?
Yes. Tickets may be available on the night. However, we recommend tickets are purchased in advance, especially if people want to sit with their school community.
Will One Big Voice be providing schools with information to put in their school newsletter to encourage parents to buy tickets?
Yes. Promotional information will be provided on a regular basis.
Will photos and DVDs be available?
Yes. Order Forms will be available at the venue and on the website.
