2022 OBV STUDIO CHOIR ANNOUNCED!
One Big Voice is delighted to announce the 2022 Studio Choir and Emerging Talents (E.Ts!)
See below for the full list.
The OBV Studio Choir is an elite recording project that creates the recordings used by thousands of school children every week as part of One Big Voice and increasingly in other parts of the world. Click here to find out more about the Studio Choir Program…
Congratulations to the successful students on a wonderful achievement. In 2022 the program will be running south and north groups, but with almost the entire 2021 choir returning, there were few new places. Some of the best young singing talent in Perth underwent an intensive talent ID, interview and audition process.
Thank you to all the OBV music/choir teachers who participated in the nomination and selection procedure.
Returning in 2022 L-R: Ebony Ridgway, Alleira Riseley, Madeline Clarke, Candice Justiniani and Kayla Mugwede. Alleira, Madeline and Candice attend John Curtin College Of The Arts. Congratulations to our new choristers Skye Colcott (Kardinya PS/Cheryl Fourie ) and Erin Chong (Success PS/Jennifer Gaunt) who will be joining them in the college’s gifted and talented music theatre program next year.
Second-year studio choristers Alvina Ashok and Kayla Mugwede. Alvina attends Providence Christian College, which continues to excel with no fewer than four participants now in the SCP! Thanks to their teacher Elisabeth Fernandez for a great contribution. Kayla started in OBV at St John Paul II CPS with Tim Maxwell and now attends Lake Joondalup Baptist College along with fellow chorister Mia Titchmarsh.
Neve Madden is from the Scarborough PS choir under Tamara Bird. Neve graduates to full Studio Choir membership after an excellent year as one of our Emerging Talents
Entering her second year of Studio Choir, Maizie Gair now attends Alkimos College. Incredibly, this places her over 100km from our southernmost chorister, Bronwen Jones from Mandurah Catholic College! Perth’s extreme geography necessitated the splitting of the program into north and south cohorts. They will unite for all-choir sessions at Perth’s top studio, Crank Recordings. Bronwen makes a very welcome return to the SCP after a year in the UK.
The strong singing style of returning chorister Paige Nathan saw her selected for the National Anthem at OBV21 at RAC Arena while at Our Lady Of Grace school. Paige is already standing out for singing at her new school, Sacred Heart College. Thank you Christina Goldie from OLG for supporting Paige as well as our talented new E.T Angelina Trichilo.
Lola Kidd, Bonnie Nelson and Alvina Ashok. Many thanks to Lola’s choir teacher at Swanbourne PS Joanne Thomas, who now has two in the SCP with Olivia Bell auditioning successfully. Bonnie from Santa Maria College had her OBV start at Brentwood PS with Anni Crowe. Alvina is one of four participants from the Providence Christian College.
OBV is delighted to welcome Skye Colcott from Kardinya PS into the Studio Choir. Nominated by Cheryl Fourie, Skye had already made a big impression at OBV21 with her self-penned anti-bullying song. The OBV Studio Choir is passionate about this theme and Skye will be a brilliant fit.
Ebony Ridgway held thousands spellbound with a beautiful piano and voice performance at OBV21. Ebony is one of our senior studio choristers entering her 3rd year in the Studio Choir Program as are Charli Smith, Madeline Clarke and Bonnie Nelson. The SCP provides experience in solo recording and well as choral recording in both small and large ensembles
For most applicants, like Sophie Crockett from Safety Bay PS, the audition was their first experience of professional studio recording. In the SCP they will learn various aspects of studio-craft including headphone technique. Thank you to Sally Quealy for supporting Sophie. OBV is excited to bring the SCP to the south-metro region this year. Making opportunity accessible is fundamental to OBV’s mission of inclusivity.
Madeline Clarke, currently in Year 8 at John Curtin College Of The Arts contributes vital leadership within the program, a quality we seek to develop in all our choristers. Maddi was strongly supported by Majella Burns when she was at St Damien’s CPS.
