Nakuru Hope Voices
One Big Voice is proud to be associated with Nakuru Hope Voices, located in Kenya. www.nakuruhope.org
This amazing choir has brought joy to many by sharing their singing on Kenyan television, in church and in their own impoverished communities.
The children in the choir have been abused, abandoned and lived in conditions beyond belief, which makes this choir even more remarkable. These children survive on hope. The joy of singing carefully chosen songs makes a huge positive difference in their lives.
In July 2019, Kiki and Meka had the privilege of working with the choir together with their choir teachers, Willy and Billiance. Songs were shared, revealing how singing as a group gave the children a remarkable sense of joy, achievement, and self respect.
A favourite Swahili song is Jambo, meaning Hello. The song was written in 1979 to help visitors to Kenya learn their language. They were taught One Big Voice and the apt lyrics had special meaning for them: “From many lands, we have all come, today we stand together as one.”
Nakuru Hope Voices make a positive impact in their own community. “We stand before you, our voices one, sharing our joy, sharing our song.” One Big Voice, in keeping with our vision of having as many children as possible singing positive, uplifting songs, is thrilled to be making a positive impact on many. “Don’t you know what one big voice can do?” (Lyrics from One Big Voice)
